Today, an Anonymous Donor visited the Pimlico Road location. She came in and asked for some help bringing in two boxes. One of our male teachers followed her to the car to bring in her donation. She pulled off as soon as he came back inside. I never got a chance to meet her and she didn't give her name before she left. When our teacher came inside, he had 2 brand new complete sets of Hooked on Phonics in his hands! Wow! I may not have a name to list, but I hope that our special friend knows that her donation will not go to waste! I can't wait to add this to our list of resources.
Like this anonymous person, many of our parents, friends and community members have been just as gracious. Donations of books, toys, supplies, and tickets have been dropped off on numerous occasions. This past Wednesday, when we returned after Hurricane Irene, we were forced to throw out all of our food. We asked parents to supply meals for one day while we cleaned our kitchen and restocked our pantry. Without being asked, parents dropped off milk, cereal, snacks and even pizza!
I just wanted to take the time to publicly thank each and every person that has thought about our families and our wonderful children. We often say that it takes a village to raise a child. Thank you to the village that is raising our programs each and everyday. I appreciate you more than you will ever know.
